The Outline Finder and Expander page of the ExpressDesign Assistant only appears when you are creating a Quick Trace design.
Use the Outline Finder and Expander page to create outlines appropriate for tracing from solid color areas in the picture.
Use Find Outine to create outlines from solid color areas in the picture. A line drawing created from the color areas is shown in the preview.
Note: Find Outline looks for distinctive boundaries between color areas in the picture. Pictures with gradual color changes, such as photographs or previously scanned pictures saved in JPEG format, may not have strong color boundaries that can be detected by Find Outline.
It is usually not necessary to use Find Outline for a picture with black outlining. However, if there are additional color boundaries that do not have outlining in the picture, you may still wish to use Find Outline.
Select Find Outline to detect the outlines in your picture.
Use Expand to expand the width of the outline detected by Find Outline. Expand is only available when Find Outline is selected.
Choose a width for the outline from the pop-up menu.
Use Expand to increase the thickness of outlines that have been detected, by adding up to 5 pixels on each side of the lines. (Initially set to 1.)
Lines are traced down the center by Quick Trace, so setting Expand to at least 1 allows curves to be traced more smoothly and continuously.
Note: If Expand is set to 0 (zero), the outlines from the picture are one pixel wide. When a line changes direction, there may be a break in the line where pixels meet at a corner, and the line may be traced in multiple sections, or not at all.
You can use higher Expand values to merge parallel outlines that are close together. Alternatively, you may be able to exclude unwanted lines by using Monochrome Threshold on the next page.
Use the Zoom bar to change the view of the picture. Zoom in (drag the slider to the right) to magnify the view. Zoom out (drag the slider to the left) to shrink the view.
When zoomed in, use the scroll bars or swipe to move around.
Note: The percentage shows the size of the embroidery relative to the Real Size setting you chose in mySewnet™ Configure.
The preview shows the picture. If Find Outline is selected, the preview shows the outlines that have been found, and the effect of using Expand.
