Motif Line

Use Motif Line Draw_Motifs_cp_icon00616.jpg to draw motifs according to the settings in the Motif Line properties dialog box. The motif settings may be changed at any time.

Select Motif Line, then click the Options button to open the Motif Line properties dialog box.

Draw lines of motifs on the work area by using the pen on a graphics tablet (or with click-and-drag with the mouse). A line is drawn on the work area. A whole motif is added when the pointer reaches a preset distance, according to the Width of the motif. This may, for example, cut off corners when the Width is large and you are following an outline with features smaller than the Width. To follow the line exactly, use Fit To Line.

When Fit To Line is off, the ends of each motif are placed on the line.

When Fit To Line is on, each motif is adjusted to fit along the line.

To draw a single motif, draw a line until one motif appears, and then stop (lift the pen or release the mouse button). A Trim

is automatically inserted at the end of each section.

Add as many motif lines as desired. Right-click to deselect the function, or simply select another tool.

Motif

Group

Click the drop-down arrow to select the desired group of motif patterns.

Category

Click the drop-down arrow to select the desired category of motif patterns.

Pattern

Click the drop-down arrow to select the desired motif visually. Motifs are also numbered for a convenient reference.

Minimum Gap

The Minimum Gap is the minimum amount of extra stitching that is placed between the motifs along the line. This is in addition to any spacing that is part of the selected motif.

Fit To Line

Select this option to make the shape of the motifs follow the curves of the line you draw.

Reverse

Use this option to reverse the direction of the motif along the line. This is useful, for instance, to make it easier to draw motifs with the desired orientation when drawing in the direction you find comfortable. Some motifs are symmetrical and will have no apparent change when they are reversed.

Mirror

Use this option to mirror the motif across the line of motifs. Some motifs are symmetrical and will have no apparent change when they are mirrored.

Size

Height and Width

The Height and Width are initially set according to the chosen motif. The maximum and minimum values for Height and Width are individual to each motif.

The Height controls the size of the motif across the line you draw, and the Width controls the size of the motif along the line you draw.

Proportional

Use this option to keep the relative Height and Width in proportion when either is changed.

Stitch

Select Running or Triple stitch for drawing the motifs. Set the maximum Length of stitches from 1 to 20mm in steps of 0.1mm. Length is initially set to the recommended value for each motif.
