Loading Projects in .vp3 Format
When a .vp3 format embroidery was saved, information on the hoop and picture size was saved in the Settings information, allowing you to reload the picture and embroidery in their original positions. Use this information when opening a .vp3 mySewnet™ Sketch project, and then save the project in .vp4 format.
Load a Project in .vp3 Format
In mySewnet™ Embroidery, click Open
and load your .vp3 embroidery.
This enables you to switch between mySewnet™ Embroidery and mySewnet™ Sketch to view the information in the Notes and Settings while loading the picture and embroidery.
Click Settings
, and then click Edit
to view the Settings information.
At the top of the Settings information is the Hoop Size and the Picture Height. Make a note of these details.
For example: 240 x 150 Horizontal; Picture Height 150.
In mySewnet™ Sketch, click New
.
In the Design Options page, select Load Picture for a New Embroidery, then click Next.
In the Hoop Size page, click Change Hoop, and open the hoop with the dimensions in the Settings information.
The dimensions use millimeters, so 240 x 150 is 240mm x 150mm - Universal Large Hoop 2.
Set Orientation to the position from the Settings information.
For Vertical use Natural, and for Horizontal use Rotated.
Click OK to select the hoop and its orientation, then click Next.
In the Choose Picture page, click Load a Picture and browse to the background picture for the embroidery.
This picture will usually have the same name as the embroidery.
Click OK to select the picture, and then click Next.
In the Rotate and Crop Picture page, click Select All, and then click Next.
This will ensure that the complete picture is loaded.
In the Picture Size page set Picture Height to the size from the Settings Information, and then click Next.
In the Add Alignment Stitches page, set Alignment Stitch Style to None.
There may be alignment stitches on the .vp3 embroidery already, and you could add some in the work area later.
Click Finish, the picture is loaded into the work area.
Click File, Insert.
In the Open dialog box, browse to the .vp3 embroidery with the same name as the picture you loaded.
Click Open to load the embroidery.
The stitching should match the picture.
Click File, Save As and save the project in your My Designs folder.
This will save the picture and embroidery in the same .vp4 file, with the Notes and Settings information.
Open the new .vp4 embroidery in mySewnet™ Embroidery or mySewnet™ Sketch to ensure that the picture and embroidery load together as desired.
Notes on Loading .vp3 Format Projects
If you have a copy of the worksheet for the embroidery, check any information on the worksheet, in case it differs from that in the file. Also check the picture to see if it was cropped or rotated but not saved. If so, recreate the rotated and cropped version of the picture in the wizard.
Non-standard Hoop Size: If the picture size in the Settings information is not the same as one of the Universal or machine hoops, select Enter Hoop Size and use the dimensions from the Settings information. After loading the embroidery over the picture, select a new hoop and save the embroidery with that hoop.
No Hoop Information: If there is no dimension information in the Notes or Settings, but a picture is associated with the embroidery, Open the embroidery in mySewnet™ Embroidery and in the View tab use Get Length to measure its height. In the Load Design Wizard choose a hoop that will fit the embroidery, and in the Picture Size page enter the height of the embroidery. In the work area use Insert to add the embroidery, and check that the positions of the picture and embroidery match. Then save the new .vp4 embroidery.
If the picture and embroidery do not match, measure the embroidery again and reload the picture. Corner alignment stitches can be used to indicate the top and bottom of the embroidery.
Old Alignment Stitches: In .vp3 files the alignment stitches were placed as a separate thread color at the beginning of the file. In .vp4 files they form a separate subdesign. On the mySewnet™ Sketch work area, create new alignment stitches (follow the position of the old stitches when using Place Alignment Stitch Cross
). Then remove all stitches in the old alignment stitch color from the design.
You cannot use Remove All Alignment Stitches
to remove old .vp3 alignment stitches. Hide all other thread colors and delete all stitches in the alignment stitch color, or delete the individual stitches in the Modify tab of mySewnet™ Embroidery or in mySewnet™ Stitch Editor.
