Use Preferences to set the default spool size for your threads, and to choose which measurement units to use.
To open Preferences, click Preferences 
in the My Thread Databases tab.
Use Preferences to set the default spool size to one you use most often before adding new threads, to speed up entering your thread stock.
Choose the default thread spool size from 225, 250, 1000, 1100 or 5000 meters or yards, or add your own preferred spool size. The initial setting is 1,000 meters.

Choose the Default Spool Size from the drop-down menu.
Measurement Units
Use meters or yards for the thread length measurement.
