The ExpressDesign Assistant works best with raster pictures that have well defined color areas and outlines.
You may wish to tidy up a picture before using it in the ExpressDesign Assistant, by deleting elements that are not required. Some pictures have stray or irregular lines and shapes that are not part of the main picture. For example, lines that add emphasis or suggest movement, speech or thought bubbles, decorative symbols, unwanted text, and so on.

Before tidying: there are sections of text and emphasis lines in the picture |
After tidying: the essential part of the picture is retained |
Note: In the example, the border was removed. This rough crop leaves white space around the edges of this picture which can be automatically removed in the Rotate and Crop Picture page, or as the background color in the Choose Thread Colors page of the ExpressDesign Assistant.
